What I am thankful for

I have been participating, err.. kinda, on Facebook with the 30 days of thanks so I thought I'd do a post to sum up what I am thankful for this year..

My adorable baby big boy, Mason. I can't believe that he will be 2 soon. Where did time go?

A smooth and easy pregnancy, and an amazing Doctor who is supportive of me trying for a VBAC (Vaginal Birth After Cesarean).

A healthy baby boy in utero. Yes, I am going to be a mom of TWO boys. I am thrilled, excited, and scared. Scared of the wrestling, them talking about bodily functions and laughing, and of course mud, EVERYWHERE. But I love being a mom of one mama's boy, so lets add another into the mix!

The health of my family. My mom mas Multiple Sclerosis and the fact that she is doing great is a blessing in itself. My sister is expecting her first baby, a girl, and she seems to be having a great pregnancy as well.

Super thankful to be able to build our dream home! We have had a few rough patches (things behind left out of the bid, changes already being made when we are pouring the basement, slow getting started) But it looks like we are off and going. They said they are even going to work the day after Thanksgiving... Scha-wing.

There are plenty of other things I'm thankful for: friends, Mason's daycare, my breezy warm home, our dogs, technology, etc.

What are YOU thankful for this year?

Appliances for a house that is non-existent

This weekend we went and bought appliances for our non-existent new house! They had a killer deal at Lowe's so we took full advantage. Here is our fridge.. can you say amazing?
We bought the matching dishwasher, range and over the stove microwave. I am hoping to score big on a washer and dryer I have my eye on. Just patiently waiting for Thanksgiving night! Other then that exciting news it's been quiet here. MJ turns 30, YES 30, on Wednesday so we are having some festivities for that and of course Thanksgiving on Thursday. I plan to do a little shopping on Friday, but during normal people hours. I'm trying to get as much sleep as I can these next few months!

House progress.. slow going

We closed on our construction loan late August/early September and we are just now getting around to getting started. Hopefully it will be a fast and smooth process from here on out! Watching your thoughts and ideas come to life on paper is pretty cool so I can't wait to see it getting built!

Now this has been a year in the making since MJ and I had a hard time deciding what we want, what size, where to build, etc. We ended up looking at 2 houses our builder previously built and fell in love with the 2nd although it was larger then what we thought we wanted. 400 square feet larger which = $$$$. We made a few changes like making the master closet A LOT bigger, moving the 2nd bath and making the kids bedrooms bigger. We (well, I) cannot wait to start decorating and picking stuff out! I think MJ will let me do whatever I want as long as we stay in budget. Speaking of that, look at this shower curtain.. umm.. amazing isn't even the right word!

This beaut is from Anthropologie and is a little pricy at $118. I thought about asking my MIL to sew it for me (well the boys, it will be for their bathroom in much manlier colors if that's possible) but MJ thought it might be a tad labor intensive, although she is an amazing sewer and could do it, she works full time so maybe he is right. To drop the cash or not.....

Boy oh Boy, where have I been?

I know I said I was going to blog at least once a week. HA! Who was I kidding? Being a working mom, expecting baby #2 and keeping up with house work is rough! Now we are building a house so I'm sure I will be at my wits end 7 days/week! Not to mention since I am pregnant I like to go to bed at 9 p.m. I have met a few new "crunchy" friends and I couldn't be more thrilled! I wish more people new about ERF, cloth diapering, baby wearing, co-sleeping, healthy eating and living; maybe then I wouldn't been seen as the odd duck or crazy parent as I like to call it.

M was his favorite character for Halloween, Mickey Mouse. Before Halloween I read that 10 out of 10 face paints tested positive for lead! I couldn't believe it. So I didn't know what to do to paint his nose black. I opted for eye shadow. Maybe not the most ideal option but it worked and I felt it was a lot better then the paint; and it worked! I have to say, he is the most adorable little mouse and he LOVED his costume!

Long time no blog!

I am really wanting for my blog to get out there for lots of people to see. Do I think I'm interesting, not really, but I do feel like we have a lot to share and I'm turning into a "crunchy" mama so it could help a lot of people. MJ on the other hand is as creamy as they come. He wants to spray chemicals in the yard, I want to use vinegar and water to kill weeds, he wants to kill ants with poison, I want to use borax and syrup.. You get the point. We, well I, recently jumped on the Cloth Diapering band wagon a few months back and it is A LOT easier then I ever imagined. A lot of people still think its pins and plastic pants, which it could be if you wanted it to be but there are SO many other options! Enough about that, I will do a post about that later in the week. We are heading out this weekend for a trip up north to visit my family and beat the heat here in the mid-west (it's suppose to be 106F today!). Please follow us, like us, comment for us and I promise I will update AT LEAST once a week, hopefully more!
